It took two long years for Apple to upgrade its 24-inch iMac from M1 to a much better M3 processor. While not much has changed for the iMac–there’s no bigger model–the M3 processor promises as much as double the performance over the M1 processor used on the 2021 model.
There’s much to like about the new M3 processor, as it can be configured with up to an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, along with as much as 24GB RAM and 2TB storage to suit the iMac’s all-in-one computer profile. The chip upgrade claims to run productivity apps as much as 30% faster than on the M1, while processing photos through Adobe Photoshop should be twice as fast. Having an M3 processor gives the iMac support for up to 12 streams of 4K video and faster WiFi 6E speeds.
Aside from the processor upgrade, everything else remains the same: you still get a slim 11.5mm profile, seven colorful options, the same 1080p camera and 4.5k display, and the same set of speakers, mics, and USB ports.
Apple’s decision to not launch an M2 iMac does make sense, as reviews of the M2 processor only showed incremental performance upgrades over the M1. The M1 processor is still very capable in 2023, which is why Apple took its sweet time before giving the iMac that much-needed performance upgrade.
The M3 iMac starts at Php 84,990 for the 2 Thunderbolt 4 version, while the one with TouchID, Gigabit Ethernet, and two USB 3.0 ports starts at Php 96,990.
