The Sony ZV-1 II Gets a Wider Zoom Lens

3 years after the ZV-1 was announced as a compact camera aimed at bloggers, Sony updates it with the new ZV-1 II. While it looks similar to its predecessor, the biggest change on the ZV-1 II is the lens, where you get an 18-50mm F/1.8-4.0 zoom instead of the 24-70mm F/1.8-2.8 used on its predecessor and was also used on the RX-100 Mark V.

Sacrificing reach and aperture opening on the long end of the lens–along with the omission of in-body IS–meant a wider lens that still has a bright aperture opening. Going for this approach meant that users will have an easier time filming themselves with the ZV-1 II because of the wider field of view the new zoom lens has to offer.

Save for that change, you are getting the same set of features as the old version. That includes the same button and port layout, the same 20.1 megapixel, 1-inch stacked Exmor RS sensor, the same Bionz X image processor, and the same hybrid autofocus system.

Like its predecessor, the ZV-1 II can shoot 4K30 video, along with S-Log2 and S-Log3 gamma and HLG curves for those who want to color-grade their footage. The ZV-1 II does get a few upgrades like a better 3-capsule microphone, a new “Cinematic Vlog” option, a stronger 3-stop ND filter, and a USB-C port.

The Sony ZV-1 II is priced at $900(~Php 50.2k), making it around $100 more expensive than the original ZV-1.
