The vivo X Fold3 is the Lightest Foldable to Date

We’ve already heard about the thinnest foldable–and vivo wants a different set of bragging rights with the X Fold3. While it is not the thinnest at 10.2mm (the Magic V2 is 9.9mm thin), the X Fold3 weighs only 219g, making it the lightest inward foldable phone to date. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold5 weighs 235g, while the Magic V2 weighs 231g.

This time around, there’s also an X Fold3 Pro model that has better cameras and internals. Before we go to the differences, let’s talk about the similarities: the inner display is an 8.03-inch foldable display with an unconventional 2480×2200 resolution, a 120hz refresh rate, andf 4500nits peak brightness. The cover display, on the other hand, is a 6.53-inch panel with a 1712×2748 resolution, 120hz refresh rate, and up to 4500nits peak brightness.

The X Fold3 Pro gets two under-display fingerprint scanners (one each for the inner and outer display), while the standard X Fold3 utilizes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The X Fold3 Pro uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage, while the regular X Fold3 uses a still-powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that’s paired with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. Both phones come with vivo’s custom V3 imaging chip.

While both foldables boast Zeiss optics and have the same pair of 32-megapixel selfie shooters, the X Fold3 Pro gets a better camera setup: the main camera being a OV50H sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size and comes with a f/1.68 aperture and OIS. Joining it is an ISOCELL JN1 sensor with autofocus and an OV64B telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and an f/2.57 aperture.

The standard X Fold3 uses an IMX920 sensor for the main camera (the same one you’d find on the V30 Pro) with an f/1.75 aperture and OIS. Joining it is the same ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide camera and an IMX816 portrait camera with 2x optical zoom.

Both foldables have the same carbon fiber hinge that weighs 14.98g and is rated for 500,000 folds. Their foldable display also comes with an additional impact-resistant film on top of UTG protection. The X Fold3 Pro boasts an IPX8 rating, while the standard X Fold3 features a still good IPX4 rating.

Lastly, the difference between both foldables is with the battery and charging speeds. The X Fold3 Pro has a 5700mAh cell with 100w wired and 50w wireless charging, while the standard X Fold3 settles for a 5500mAh battery with 80w wired charging.
