Why is the Honor 10 Lite a Great Selfie Shooter?

Let’s talk about its selfie camera

Honor kicked off 2019 with the Honor 10 Lite. While the phone’s cameras certainly had a few quirks (nothing that couldn’t be easily addressed), we generally found to the Honor 10 Lite’s cameras pretty good for a budget phone.

Specifically, the front camera. The Honor 10 Lite is primarily marketed as a budget selfie shooter, thanks to its 24-megapixel f/2.0 shooter. Like we mentioned in our quick review, the camera hits the right spot because it is the same module found on higher-end Huawei phones like the P20 series and Mate 20 series. What makes it even better is that it makes the Honor 10 Lite one of the most affordable smartphones in the market to use such a camera.

While Honor phones are not known for producing stunning selfies, the company wants to change that with the Honor 10 Lite. Honor made several software tweaks to ensure quality selfies that look as natural as possible. These include improved low-light performance and better AI recognition. We used the Honor 10 Lite for quite a while, and the selfies we got were pretty good for a budget phone.

On full auto, selfies taken with the Honor 10 Lite look clean with accurate skin tones and good detail preservation. Enabling AI adds a bit of beautification but does not exaggerate to the point of making our faces airbrushed. Bokeh mode is also good, as it gives our faces proper isolation from the background.

If you want to get rid of your blemishes, the Honor 10 Lite’s Beautification mode is very useful. Based on our tests, it is best to keep it at Beauty Level 5, as going beyond that makes our selfies have an excessive dose of airbrushing.

Taking selfies in low light is not a problem either, as the Honor 10 Lite performs well in making photos look flattering while keeping a good amount of detail.

From our experience with the Honor 10 Lite, Honor has improved their algorithm in processing selfies. Paired with a highly capable 24-megapixel snapper, the Honor 10 Lite has the makings of a great selfie shooter for those who are on a budget.

Honor 10 lite will be launched on Jan 22 and available from Honor roadshow in SM North EDSA on Jan 26 with big bundle, also nationwide available from physical shop. For more information on the Honor 10 Lite, visit Honor’ Philippine’s site or follow the Honor Philippines Facebook page.
