We already told you that bigger doesn’t mean safer when it comes to vehicle safety. This has been proven once again by the 2022 Toyota Raize subcompact SUV in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.
ASEAN New Car Assessment Program or ASEAN NCAP is the official and recognized provider of safety ratings in South East Asia. It is where the latest 2022 Toyota Raize, also known as Perodua Ativa, scored a five-star safety rating.
The small SUV, in its 1.0 Turbo CVT variant, passed with flying colors, despite the stricter 2021-2025 protocols. Thanks to its 6 SRS airbags and vehicle platform that’s made of lightweight high-strength steel.
More specifically, the Raize scored 37.48 out of 40 in terms of Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP). The vehicle performed very well in the frontal offset test, where its crash structure remained stable. In addition, it managed to provide adequate protection to the front passenger chest and lower leg areas.
The subcompact SUV also managed to score 17.36 out of 20 in Child Occupancy Protection (COP) and 18.57 out of 20 in terms of safety assist technologies (SAT). However, since the local variant doesn’t have Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as well as Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist, SAT rating drops to 10 out of 20.
