Netflix Games Roll Out to Android Devices in the US

Update: we have been told by Netflix Philippines that Netflix games will be available on November 4, 1AM.

For the meantime, you can download the games individually by searching for them in the Play Store. Playing the games will still prompt you to log into your Netflix account and choose the profile that will be playing it.

After confirming that it will expand into games, the new Netflix feature is now available in the US for Android devices.

In its announcement, Netflix Games will have five titles: Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Card Blast, and Teeter Up. The nice part about this feature is that it is available at no extra cost as long as you have a valid Netflix subscription. “We’re in the early days of creating a great gaming experience, and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us.”

The Android app gets a dedicated games row and games tab on both phones and tablets. The games tab will not be available on Kids profiles, and some games may require an internet connection.

Netflix’s decision to expand to gaming is part of its efforts to offer more value for money to its subscribers–similar to what Apple did for its Music app by offering Lossless streaming and Spatial Audio. Netflix is no stranger to gaming, as it previously added an interactive aspect to shows like Black Mirror and Stranger Things.

“We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation, and unscripted TV,” Netflix said in its Q2 2021 financial report. “Since we are nearly a decade into our push into original programming, we think the time is right to learn more about how our members value games.”
