Samsung’s new flagships are now official, and just like previous releases, there are two variants of the Galaxy Note 20. Want to know who comes out on top between the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 vs Note 20 ultra? Read on.
Unlike last year’s release though, the differences in the phones don’t just relate to screen size and technology.
Specifically, if you opt for the vanilla Galaxy Note 20, you’re getting a phone that’s primarily made out of plastic, while the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra gets a more premium Gorilla Glass 7 back.
While Samsung’s “glasstic” is still nice to look at, it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to pay big bucks for a phone that has essentially a plastic rear.
The vanilla Galaxy Note 20 not only has a smaller screen (6.7-inch VS the 6.9-inch one on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra), its display is a regular Dynamic AMOLED screen with a flat panel and a 60Hz refresh rate.
The more premium Galaxy Note 20 Ultra meanwhile has a bigger 6.9-inch display that has a higher WQHD+ resolution and Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED 2.0 tech, along with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The cameras are different too. The regular Galaxy Note 20 gets a 12-megapixel main camera that’s near-identical to the one in the Galaxy S20, with an f/1.8 aperture lens and dual-pixel phase detection focus. This is complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra meanwhile gets a 108-megapixel f/1.8 aperture main camera with OIS and a 1/1.33″ sensor size. The phone also uses a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture as well as a new 12-megapixel f/3.0 zoom camera. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra ditches the time-of-flight camera for a laser AF module as well.
Even the S-Pen gets downgraded on the vanilla Note 20 and doesn’t enjoy the lower 9ms latency that the Note 20 Ultra’s S-Pen enjoys.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 vs Note 20 Ultra
Both phones use Samsung’s Exynos 990 for better or worse, and both will come in LTE and 5G flavors. The Note 20 will only have 8GB of RAM for both variants. The Note 20 Ultra meanwhile, also gets 8GB of RAM for the LTE variant and 12GB of RAM for the 5G version. Both phones will have 256GB of storage, but only the Note 20 Ultra gets expandable storage.
Battery varies slightly, with the Note 20 rocking a 4300mAh battery, while the Note 20 Ultra gets a 4,500mAh pack.
Pricing is slightly different as well: you’re looking at Php 53,990 for the LTE variant of the Galaxy Note 20 and Php 67,990 for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra LTE.
