A recent survey revealed that 61 percent of Filipinos aren’t keen on getting a COVID-19 jab even if there are shots available. And since our only real chance of ending this COVID nightmare is to get as many people vaccinated, Grab has taken it upon themselves to bolster the vaccination drive of the government through their GrabBayanihan Vaccination Program. The GrabBayanihan Vaccination Support Program takes on the task of educating and increasing vaccine access to citizens, which includes programs that encourage their consumers, driver-partners, and merchant-partners to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
In terms of access, the GrabBayanihan Vaccination Support Program is committed to providing its partners with pre-and post-vaccination telemedical consultations to help identify the comorbidity status of its drivers and delivery-partners, and connect them with their LGU. Grab is also subsidizing the cost of COVID-19 vaccines to their partners who are not covered by the national vaccination program. They are extending this to all Grab Philippines employees and their immediate family members.
In terms of mobility, they are creating a specialized fleet of vaccinated driver-partners to provide discounted mobility solutions for senior citizens and high-risk individuals or those with comorbidities going to and from vaccination centers.
The education aspect of this program includes a series of workshops and town halls to educate its network of partners of the benefits of getting vaccinated. Grab will also publish accurate vaccine and other public health information from the Department of Health within the Grab app. This includes the “COVID-19 Snap Survey,” a DOH-led survey for gathering real-time data on vaccine sentiment. Grab hopes this will enable public health authorities to better tailor their vaccine strategy.
“Many of our kababayans spent the last year making enormous sacrifices for our communities. Now that we are gradually striving towards socio-economic recovery, we believe that the vaccination efforts- from both the private and public sectors- provide much-needed hope for many of our kababayans,” Grab Country Head Grace Vera Cruz said. Grab continues to work closely with the national and local government to leverage its ground fleet for mobility and logistic support for their respective programs.
