Star Wars Episode IX Director Gets the Boot

Star Wars Episode IX Director Gets the Boot

No Delays, Please.

While the eighth installment of the Star Wars epic, The Last Jedi, is set to be released in 100 days, it seems like preparations for the ninth movie have come to halt. News broke out that Lucasfilms has decided to replace its director, Colin Trevarrow, with no replacement named for the project yet.

Here’s the statement from Lucasfilms:

Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

This isn’t the first time that Lucasfilms has had to replace a director on one of the Star Wars films either. They recently replaced Christopher Miller and Phillip Lord on the standalone Han Solo movie in favor of the more experienced Ron Howard. With Trevarrow getting the boot from Episode IX. we certainly hope that its May 24, 2019, released date won’t be pushed back.
