Apple updates its entry-level iPad with a new 2021 iteration. While it looks similar to predecessor, it gets a performance boost with an A13 Bionic processor. The processor upgrade also translates to improved camera performance. The front camera gets an upgrade with a 12-megapixel wide-angle snapper.

Like its predecessor, the iPad (2021) has a 10.2-inch Liquid Retina display a home button that also houses a TouchID button, and support for the first-generation Apple Pencil. The display this time supports True Tone, making all iPad models have this Apple-exclusive display feature.

The iPad Mini (2021), on the other hand, gets a full redesign that resembles a smaller version of the 2020 iPad Air (also known as the 4th-generation iPad Air)–complete with symmetrical bezels, TouchID button embedded on the power button, landscape-oriented stereo speakers, and USB-C connectivity. The latter also translates to the iPad Mini (2021) having support for the second-generation Apple Pencil.

The cameras on the iPad Mini (2021) get upgraded with a 12-megapixel f/1.8 rear camera with Focus Pixels and a 12-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera.

The Liquid Retina Display is now bigger at 8.3-inches while keeping the same footprint the iPad Mini is known for. Like the entry-level iPad (2021), the iPad Mini (2021)’s display also supports TrueTone.

Speaking of connectivity, the iPad Mini (2021) is the second iPad next to the M1-powered iPad Pro (2021) with support for 5G connectivity. Powering it is an A15 Bionic processor–the same processor powering the iPhone 13 series.
