Infinix, TECNO Maintain Lead in the Philippines for Q2

Despite smartphone shipments in the Philippines declining by 2.1% year-over-year and 20% quarter-over-quarter, Transsion group–which consists of Infinix, TECNO, and itel–maintain their lead in terms of market share for the second quarter of 2023.

Based on data from IDC, Transsion group garnered a whopping 38.3% market share in the Philippines, with realme at a distant second at 16.3% and Xiaomi being in third place at 11.5%. OPPO and Samsung wrap up the top 5 brands in the Philippines at 10.7% and 9.8% respectively.

The large lead of Transsion group in the Philippines can be seen with the increased channel coverage and multiple model launches for both TECNO and Infinix. For the second quarter of 2023, Infinix brought in the HOT 30 and NOTE 30 series to the Philippines–with the NOTE 30 VIP being a highlight as a rare under Php 15k phone to offer fast wired and wireless charging.

TECNO, for their part, had several key releases that cater to different price segments: the Phantom V Fold for the premium category, Camon 20 Pro series for the mid-range category, and Spark 10 series for the budget category.

Both TECNO and Infinix are expected to maintain their momentum in the Philippines in Q3 with the former’s POVA 5 series and the latter’s upcoming ZERO 30 5G series.

“With the market anticipated to remain subdued for the rest of the year, IDC expects more competition and growth in the lower-price segments as vendors focus on improving sales,” IDC Philippines Senior Market Analyst for Client Devices Angela Medez said.
