POCO F5 Series Official in the Philippines, Price Starts at Php 21k

After waiting for several weeks, POCO finally unveiled the F5 series as its latest upper mid-range offering globally. Both phones are a big step up from the POCO F4 series in terms of features–which also meant that the F5 and F5 Pro are more expensive to accommodate things like significantly powerful processors.

Starting with the POCO F5, this one is the global version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, so you are getting that powerful Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor under the hood that can match the performance of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 based on initial benchmarks. There’s no 16GB/1TB option for the POCO F5, so your RAM/storage variants are either 8GB/256GB or 12GB/256GB.

Like the X5 Pro, the F5 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a slim bottom bezel, 120hz refresh rate, 16-megapixel selfie camera, and Full HD resolution. The triple rear camera setup consists of a 64-megapixel main, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel macro–the main camera does have both OIS and EIS on board. Despite being just 7.9mm thin and 181g light, the F5 keeps the 5000mAh battery and support for 67w charging.

The POCO F5 Pro, on the other hand, is the global version of the Redmi K60 and is the most premium POCO phone to date. For starters, its 6.67-inch AMOLED display packs a WQHD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner–two features that are new to POCO phones. The display also boasts a 120hz refresh rate, 480hz touch response rate, 16-megapixel selfie camera, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Like the regular F5, you get the same 64-megapixel main camera with OIS and EIS, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel macro camera–the main difference with the Pro model is that it can shoot 8K video thanks to its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Variant options are either 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, or 12GB/512GB.

The F5 Pro has a larger-than-usual 5160mAh battery that supports 67w wired and 30w wireless charging–the latter being a first on a POCO device.

The POCO F5 Pro is priced at Php 26,999 for the 8GB/256GB, Php 28,999 for the 12GB/256GB, and Php 30,999 for the 12GB/512GB model. The POCO F5, on the other hand, is priced at Php 20,999 for the 8GB/256GB model and Php 22,999 for the 12GB/256GB model.

Both phones will be available starting today (May 9) via POCO’s Official Store in Shopee.

Both models have a special early bird price: The POCO F5 Pro will have a promo price of Php 23,999 for the 8GB/256GB, Php 25,999 for the 12GB/256GB, and Php 27,999 for the 12GB/512GB model, while the POCO F5 will have a promo price of Php 18,299 for the 8GB/256GB model and Php 20,099 for the 12GB/256GB model.

The in-display fingerprint scanner was a POCO-first on the F2 Pro last 2019 when phones tried to get rid of notches and chins on the screen. Some used side-mounted scanners, others still stuck to rear-mounted ones.
