Samsung now has its Own OLED Gaming Monitors

With OLED being the next big thing in gaming monitors as showcased by brands like ASUS ROG, Samsung will be debuting three OLED gaming monitors under its Odyssey gaming sub-brand: the G6 and G8 having flat panels, while the updated G9 retaining its ultra-wide curved design with a 32:9 aspect ratio.

The Odyssey OLED G9 is essentially the same as the original G9 save for its use of an OLED panel. The display is 49 inches with an ultra-wide design that functions like having two 16:9 displays side-by-side without any bezels in the middle. Like the original version, you get a fast 240hz refresh rate on the Odyssey OLED G9.

Those who prefer a more subtle gaming monitor can go for the Odyssey OLED G8, which is a 32-inch OLED monitor with a UHD resolution and a 240hz refresh rate. Like the Odyssey G9, the G8 is technically a smart monitor with Multi Control for seamless device connectivity with any supported Samsung device, along with support for Samsung’s SmartThings Hub to connect with compatible IoT devices. It also has Samsung’s Smart TV and Gaming Hub platforms, making the Odyssey OLED G8 and G9 an all-in-one entertainment hub that goes beyond being gaming monitors.

If you’re after a higher refresh rate, the Odyssey OLED G6 comes with a 360hz refresh rate and a QHD resolution, striking a good balance as a 27-inch gaming monitor.

Samsung has yet to reveal the prices of these Odyssey OLED gaming monitors, but expect them to be expensive. For context, the non-OLED Odyssey G7 was priced at Php 33,699 for the 27-inch model and Php 37,299 for the 32-inch model, while the original Odyssey G9 was priced at a whopping Php 74,799.

OLED panels are usually more expensive, so we will not be surprised if the Odyssey OLED G9 breaches the Php 100,000 mark.
