With Geely officially acquiring Meizu, the Chinese brand is back with new phone releases with the 20 series. Yes, Meizu skipped the number 19 because last year was the time when Geely is in the process of acquiring them after struggling for several years in the smartphone industry. Now that Meizu is under Geely, the brand is optimistic about getting back into the smartphone industry with groundbreaking innovations.
The design of the Meizu 20 series is very familiar, as it combines the camera module design of the Galaxy S23 series and the boxy look of the iPhone 14 series. Among the three models, the Infinity variant is the most interesting of the bunch.
While it does not boast three 50-megapixel cameras on the back like the Pro–you get two 12-megapixel cameras and a 50-megapixel main camera instead–the Infinity’s main selling point is the insanely slim bezels on its 6.79-inch 120hz Quad HD+ AMOLED display. Meizu managed to make all four borders on the Infinity to be just 2.48mm thin, giving it the illusion of a phone that’s literally all-screen in the front.
The Pro model, meanwhile, has a 6.81-inch 120hz LTPO display with a 120hz adaptive refresh rate and Quad HD+ resolution, while the vanilla model has a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120hz refresh rate. All three models have a 32-megapixel selfie shooter and in-display fingerprint scanner, along with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
The vanilla Meizu 20’s triple rear camera setup consists of a 50-megapixel main, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and 5-megapixel depth sensor, along with a 4700mAh battery with 67w wired charging. The Infinity version gets a 4800mAh battery with 65w wired and 50w wireless charging, with the Pro model comes with a 5000mAh battery with 80w wired and 50w wireless charging.
The vanilla Meizu 20 starts at CNY 2999(~Php 23.8k) for the 12GB/128GB model, while the Pro version starts at CNY 3999(~Php 31.7k) for the same variant. Both models max out their storage at 512GB. The Infinity version is more expensive at CNY 6299(~Php 49.8k) for the 12GB/256GB model, and maxes out at 16GB/1TB.
