Yes, the ROG Ally is a REAL Product from ASUS

ASUS knows to to get people confused: while April 1 is usually where brands pull off all sorts of April Fool’s posts, ASUS took advantage of that time by unveiling the ROG Ally. We had to do a double take if the announcement was real, especially with how detailed the 3-minute video was.

Even if there was a Best Buy link to inform everyone on the ROG Ally, it was admittedly hard to determine if this news was real–especially in an age where fake news is prevalent.

We asked the local ASUS ROG team about the Ally, and they did confirm that the ROG Ally is indeed a real product that’s coming soon. To further support that, they even emphasized that their April 1 announcement is a serious one and that they will reveal more details about their upcoming gaming handheld soon.

You got us there, ASUS ROG.

Based on the latest teaser photo that they revealed, the ROG Ally does have a similar form factor to the Steam Deck sans the touchpads on either side. The back panel has that familiar ROG Aesthetic, and those vents do confirm that the Ally will be employing a dual fan system to keep things cool.

What we know so far is that th ROG Ally will use a custom AMD APU that will allow you to enjoy Full HD gaming on the go, along with Windows 11 out of the box. To make things even more interesting, you can dock the ROG Ally with ASUS’s XG eGPU stations when you plan to use the handheld console with your TV.
