We reviewed the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G fairly recently and were impressed by some of its headlining features. As the highest-end offering in the brand’s midrange lineup, it definitely has a lot to live up to and a fiercer list of competitors. So for those interested in copping this phone, we’ll list the top five reasons why the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is a good purchase for buyers in the PH.
Camera Goes BEYOND Hype
Usually in this segment, brands go for high-megapixel counts as it’s a highly-sellable marketing tool. People are often misled that these numbers directly translate to excellent photo quality. However, they’re often disappointed when they realize that this belief couldn’t be further from the truth.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G has a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HPX main sensor that you don’t often see in this segment. It instantly wowed us with its wide dynamic range, stellar representation of detail, colors, and minimal noise. Shots taken in ideal lighting conditions were easy as expected, but even low-light photos didn’t diminish significantly in quality. Sure, there are some improvements that can still be fixed via software, but it’s an impressive system nonetheless. We expect the Xiaomi Imaging Engine to evolve as time goes on.
Meanwhile, the built-in OIS does well to stabilize the captured 4K video. Auto settings are more than fine – but if you like tweaking your visuals, then you’re in for a treat.
Content Consumption Behemoth
Want to view the content you’ve taken? It’s an absolute joy on the 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Scrolling is smooth and colors are definitely punchy and vivid. It lives up to the line “not all AMOLED panels are the same,” and you can definitely tell that this is a more mature form of the technology compared to implementation on other midrangers. It could even match up to flagship specifications. It definitely feels the part since the tiny bezels increase the immersion tenfold.
This supports Widevine L1 for Full HD Netflix streaming, HDR10, 1920Hz PWM dimming, and covers 100% of the P3 color gamut. You’re also covered on the audio end by built-in stereo speakers and a headphone jack for wired offerings. Yes, wired earphones may be out of fashion, but they never run out of battery and are literally plug-and-play. No need to carry dongles around either. That’s a win in our books.
Solid Choice Of Internals
With a screen that impressive, it would be a shame if things didn’t operate smoothly. But they do, thanks to the onboard MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. It’s an octa-core arrangement that has a dual ARM Cortex A78 setup and six ARM Cortex A55 cores, with an ARM Mali-GC8 MC4 GPU. What this means is that the device stands within the spectrum of top-shelf midrange devices. It’s definitely more than enough to get you going on your everyday applications, streaming, social media, and the like.
When it comes to gaming, it played the perenially-feared Genshin Impact on High Graphics without a hitch. That’s all it needs to do to prove its capabilities. Multitasking is handled by a healthy 8GB of RAM for the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G in the PH, the sweet spot for devices in 2023. 256GB of storage meanwhile is free for users to save all their photos and apps on.
It manages to strike a fair balance between raw power and efficiency.
Slow-out, Fast-in Battery
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G has an installed 5000 mAh battery that’s the standard for flagship phones nowadays. That’s 500 mAh more than its predecessor which results in a few additional hours of battery life. A welcome addition if you ask us. With this, the device can effortlessly last a whole day of moderate use with hours to spare.
If it runs out, there isn’t really much to worry about since this comes with a 120W wired charger. That tops up the pack from empty to full in a mere 20 minutes. Oh, how times have changed.
Clean Minimalistic Design
Considering the competition in the PH, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G punches above its weight in terms of design. It may seem like the back panel is constructed out of plastic at first glance, but it’s actually a full-glass build. Small details like curved sides for a more comfortable grip really impress you since it’s proof that there’s been a lot of thought put into this.
As mentioned earlier, the bezels around the screen are slim and symmetrical. The punch hole is also set at the center so this device is balanced on all sides in that aspect. Even the camera sensors in the module follow a certain pattern. It’s pleasing to look at since there aren’t too many varying design elements at war here.
If it’s pleasing to look at and a joy to hold, then there isn’t really much more we can ask for.

With all these considered, this smartphone is an awesome choice for those who want a well-rounded option. Of course, it helps that this midrange phone carries a monstrous 200-megapixel shooter and has all the makings of a portable media powerhouse alongisde it.
