Adobe Officially Acquires The Figma Design Program

Many people use Figma on a regular basis – whether that be designers, specialists, or the budding online entrepreneur, its purposes have spread far and wide within the creative space. The application’s creators have now announced that Figma has officially been acquired by Adobe in hopes of a more sustainable and collaborative future. Here’s what it’s all about.

After 10 years of development for Figma and its associate programs, this has been perceived as a critical time to bolster its capabilities. This fact holds true especially now that AI is starting to become more and more intelligent to the point of mimicking human creativities, which could also be deemed a threat within the community. There should be a healthy boundary that allows technology to assist individuals in outputting quality work since all of these require a human touch after all.

With the experience and resources of Adobe at its disposal, Figma is envisioned to be monumentally larger than it is now. The creators wish to bring all their ideas for the platform into reality and bring out the maximum potential of this beloved software. This includes the usage of 3D, imaging, illustration, and video technology into the platform. There is no longer the need to start from scratch since Adobe already has existing resources that can take care of these loose ends, saving the company precious time and funding.

Despite this change in ownership, its creators have assured the public that they will still be handling operations. Dylan Field, co-CEO and Founder of Figma, has mentioned that he will continue to serve as company CEO with the entire team continuing to report to him. He will be reporting to David Wadhwani, President of Adobe Digital Business.

Field concludes that section with this statement: “We plan to continue to run Figma the way we have always run Figma — continuing to do what we believe is best for our community, our culture, and our business.”

It appears that Figma has plans of explosive growth alongside Adobe. It’s only an assumption for now, but we’d say current users of Figma have nothing to worry about with this Adobe acquisition. Quite the contrary: there’s a lot to look forward to.
