Hailing from the lands of France, WIKO has released value smartphones in the country with the goal of appealing to the mass market. In order to further cement their place within the average Filipino’s lifestyle, WIKO has selected PPop girl group G22 as its first celebrity endorsers. This goes to show the brand’s commitment and belief in the local market.

For those who aren’t familiar with the PPop group G22 endorsing WIKO, they are a four-member girl group composed of Alfea, AJ, Bianca, and Jaz. They debuted in February 2022 under Cornerstone Entertainment and has released two hit songs since then: “BANG!” and “Babalik.” They were also part of PPOPCON 2022, a two-day Ppop convention held at the New Frontier Theater and Smart Araneta Coliseum earlier this year.

Jacqueline Li, WIKO Marketing Director for the Phillippines, explained the reasoning behind this choice. The girl group embodies WIKO’s youthful and creative passion that is sure to resonate with the increasing number of young fans. They want to empower Filipinos to express themselves freely using their smartphones as a gateway to the world. This not only covers music but also fundamental concepts of identity, advocacies, and beliefs that transend the realms of entertainment.

Cornerstone Entertainment President Jeff Vadillo doubles down on these points by stating that “WIKO is at the forefront of technology and design,” aspiring for G22 to do the same for the PPop industry when it comes to music, production quality, visuals, and videos.

Some members also voiced their opinions regarding the partnership. Leader and main rapper AJ voiced out her excitement as this is the group’s first endorsement, while lead vocalist Alfea emphasized that each and every member is a “female alpha.” These traits of PPop girl group G22 lines up squarely with the identity of WIKO as a brand.

This partnership will entail joint events and content between WIKO and PPop group G22 in the future.
