Sachet Internet? Globe to Offer Prepaid Fiber in June

Converge is not the only one that wants to make fiber internet accessible with prepaid offerings: Globe also wants “sachet internet” accessible to everyone as it will be launching prepaid fiber offerings by June. This was confirmed by Globe President Ernest Cu in a virtual media briefing, as they are looking for more accessible ways for consumers to avail of their internet services.

Similar to what Converge is offering with Surf2Sawa, the prepaid fiber service of Globe will not have a lock-in period and will have “sachet pricing”. “It will be very easy to sign up for, and most of all, it would be very affordable to the general public, particularly the mass market which is really affected by inflation,” Cu said.

While Globe remains vague on the details of its prepaid fiber service, they said that they will launch it in June and that they aim to serve the underserved market. Globe Consumer Mobile Business head Darius Delgado does explain that the upcoming service is a follow up to the TMBayan Prepaid WiFi service that was launched last year.

“This will feature a fully digital experience coupled with sachet pricing and financing options that’s most relevant and accessible to the mass market,” adds.
