Xiaomi Philippines has just announced that they are now the 3rd best-selling smartphone company in the Philippines according to research firm Canalys.  Xiaomi Philippines also recorded a 318% annual growth in the first half of 2021, the highest among those also included in the top 5 smartphone companies. 

Xiaomi’s stunning 318% annual growth announcement did not come as a surprise. In fact, Xiaomi Philippines recently posted their 2021 second quarter (Q2) performance which revealed a 17% market share in the country’s smartphone industry. This boosted the company standing to second place, ranking Xiaomi a close second next to Samsung with only a 2% market share difference.

Just a few months ago, we reported that Xiaomi posted a massive 280% growth in the Philippines. The company was able to sell 49 million smartphone units in the Philippines in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021 alone. Earlier this year, we also reported that Xiaomi is one of the very few smartphone brands that managed to exhibit growth in the fourth quarter of 2020 according to Counterpoint’s official report during a time when the majority of smartphone brands experienced losses due to the effects of the pandemic. 

Xiaomi is doing well in the Philippines, indeed. Its outstanding performance in the Philippines can be credited to three of its phones that arrived in the Philippines earlier this year—the flagship Mi 11, the budget mid-range Redmi Note 10, and the entry-level Redmi 9T.

However, Xiaomi’s success does not end in the Philippines. According to Canalys research manager Ben Stanton, “Xiaomi is growing its overseas business rapidly. For example, its shipments increased more than 300% in Latin America, 150% Africa, and 50% in Western Europe.” With massive growth and market presence covering different continents,  Xiaomi is a brand worth looking out for.
