The social media company is bringing 4K to your feed
Facebook is serious about video streaming. So serious that it’s now testing 4K on the social media platform for both uploaders and streamers, allowing anyone with the right display (and fast enough connection) to view 4K content.
Specifically, Facebook is testing the 2160 UHD-1 standard for both uploads and streams, and is now allowing some pages and profiles to post and view 4K videos on the site.
The move comes right after Facebook launched its Watch Video platform aimed to compete with incumbent video streaming juggernaut YouTube. Facebook has a lot of ground to cover though, since YouTube has had the ability to stream 4K video for a while now, allowing 4K video uploads back in 2014 and 4K video streaming in 2016.
