How to Maximize the Cameras of the Infinix ZERO 30 5G

The ZERO 30 5G is an exciting mid-range offering from Infinix. Aside from being great with games, the main highlight of the ZERO 30 5G is its cameras, where it is a rare mid-range phone that can shoot 4K video for both front and rear cameras. We took the ZERO 30 5G around–and even used it to document Twice’s Ready To Be concert–and here are things that we learned about this vlogging-focused phone:

Know what platform you’re shooting for

Whether you are taking photos or shooting videos, you should be mindful of where you intend to post them. Shooting at the usual landscape orientation might be effective for the platform you intend to post them: social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok are pushing for vertical videos, so you might want to keep that in mind, especially with how people will view your content on their mobile devices.

Shoot in 4K as much as possible

The ZERO 30 5G is one of the few mid-range phones that lets you shoot 4K video for both front and rear cameras. It’s a must to maximize this feature, as being able to shoot in 4K allows you extra leeway when it comes to editing–especially when you intend to export your videos to Full HD, which is the standard for most social media platforms.

Another strength of the ZERO 30 5G is that you can also choose between 30FPS or 60FPS in 4K. While 60FPS gives you more fluid footage, 30FPS should be fine for most vlogging needs. Shooting at 4K30 is also more optimal with the front camera as you can take advantage of features like Eye Tracking AF and EIS.

Have a steady pair of hands

Even if the main camera has OIS, it also helps that you keep your hands steady when shooting video so that you get that crisp footage you always want. The ZERO 30 5G’s 50-megapixel selfie camera does have EIS, but only works at its full potential when you’re shooting in Full HD. At 4K, you get a bit of EIS assistance at 30FPS (along with Eye Tracking AF), and you’re pretty much on your own when shooting at 4K60. Should you want to vlog at 4K60, you’ll need a steady pair of hands (and maybe a selfie stick) if you want to maximize the ZERO 30 5G’s vlogging capabilities.

Made good use of the digital zoom feature

While the ZERO 30 5G does not have an actual telephoto camera, it makes good use of its 108-megapixel main shooter with a 3x digital zoom feature on the camera. Normally, digital zooming on mid-range phones can be a hit-or-miss affair, but Infinix did a good job in making the ZERO 30 5G’s 3x digital zoom feature decent for both photo and video.

We’ve used this feature often when we documented Twice’s Ready To Be concert, and the results are actually not bad for a non-native zoom feature. Add to the fact that the ZERO 30 5G is a Php 15k phone–it’s a decent performer as a whole when it comes to digital zoom.

Play around with exposure when needed

While the ZERO 30 5G’s auto exposure works well most of the time, feel free to tweak the exposure when needed. We found that dialing down the exposure resulted in better video footage when we brought the ZERO 30 5G to Twice’s Ready to Be concert, where the adjustments gave us the right exposure to shoot the performances by all members on stage.

One of the advantages of adjusting exposure–or using Pro mode–is that you maximize the ZERO 30 5G’s capabilities in taking great photos and videos even in tricky lighting situations.

The ZERO 30 5G is priced at Php 14,999 and is available at Infinix’s official Lazada, Shopee, and Tiktok stores.
