Apple Teases “Scary Fast” October 30 Event: M3 Macs Coming?

While the supposed launch of new iPads turned out to be a disappointing reveal of a new USB-C Apple Pencil, it seems that Apple has an actual announcement happening on October 30. Called “Scary Fast”, the October 30 appears to be Apple highlighting fast Mac computers.

This goes in line with what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in his Power On newsletter, where Apple has plans to announce updated versions of the iMac and MacBook Pro by the end of October. The announcement of a new iMac seems to be more plausible, as the current M1 iMac is more than two years old at this point. The upgrade will involve the iMac using an M2 processor–not the M3 since it is in low supply and it will be prioritized for the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

Speaking of both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, there’s a possibility that the October 30 “Scary Fast” event might involve Apple unveiling the M3 processor for its pro-grade laptops. However, both MacBook Pros and the Mac Mini just got updated to the M2 Pro last January, so it will be unusual if Apple goes for a mid-year update in debuting the M3 processor.

We don’t know what surprises Apple has in store for October 30, but we really hope that it is not as disappointing as that silent launch of a new USB-C stylus.
