While the buzz with Apple right now is with the futuristic Vision Pro and the USB-C sporting iPhone 15 series, Apple might be able to launch its first set of M3 computers starting with the iMac according to Mark Gurman.
This further confirms earlier reports on Apple’s plans to announce its M3 series of chips, which is said to be made using a 3nm process. This will also mark the first upgrade to the iMac since shifting to an M1 chip and being offered only in a 24-inch model back in 2021. Those waiting for a bigger 32-inch iMac will have to wait until late 2024 as it is still under early development.
Aside from the iMac, other Apple products that are seen to get the M3 chip upgrade are the 13-inch MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The latter might come as a surprise, as the 13-inch MacBook Pro is using a 5-year-old design with the Touchbar and dated display bezels.
As for iPads, while Gurman did not mention any M2 iPads, he explained that an upgraded iPad Air might be in the works, while the rumored iPad Pro with OLED displays and an M3 processor might be slated for a 2024 launch.
