DITO Telecommunity Corporation (DITO) is looking at upgrading its systems in order to offer 5G services in Mindanao and has chosen Nokia 5G Network solutions as their network provider to reach this goal. The deployment of Nokia’s technologies will enable DITO to realize its plans of reaching underserved areas by offering a high-quality 5G network throughout the country.
This deal includes Nokia setting up a Radio Access Network (RAN) which lays the groundwork for DITO’s 5G infrastructure across Mindanao. Nokia’s equipment includes a comprehensive massive MIMO, multi-band, and Single RAN AirScale portfolio.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with DITO into the 5G era and help deliver its ambitious plans for 5G connectivity. We are also delighted that DITO has selected our industry-leading 5G RAN solutions to underpin its new network which will deliver incredible connectivity experiences for businesses and people.” Tommi Uitto, president of Mobile Networks of Nokia said.
DITO is also utilizing Nokia’s NetAct solution for network management and seamless daily network operations. This solution lets DITO have full control of its services through configuration management, monitoring, and software management. Nokia’s digital design and deployment are crucial for DITO to have a faster time to market roll-out as well as optimization and technical support services.
Nokia is strengthening its presence in Mindanao as a network solutions provider through this partnership. They have also been tapped by Converge to help them improve their internet service systems with its Fiber-to-the-home solution in Mindanao late last year. This shows that Nokia has the technologies to further both the fiber network and mobile network systems.
The country’s third telco started offered mobile internet services in Visayas and Mindanao in March. Its latest milestone includes its expanded reach to Luzon and its commercial launch in NCR this month offering 4G Network internet connectivity.
