More Accessible: ChatGPT Coming to Smartphones

The popularity of ChatGPT among users has other brands adopting it: Microsoft has it with Bing, while Google has its own version with Bard. With efforts to make the tool even more accessible, OpenAI is set to make ChatGPT more accessible by making it available to smartphones.

The initial rollout for the ChatGPT app will be for iOS devices in the US, with plans to expand availability to other countries and to Android smartphones soon. The decision to make it available to smartphones was due to users saying they “love using ChatGPT on the go.”

With this move, OpenAI makes its presence more felt in the search market, which should challenge Google in the long run. Offered free of charge to users, ChatGPT allow them to “get precise information without sifting through ads or multiple results,” which is OpenAI’s subtle dig at Google’s search engine. Some good uses of ChatGPT include “guidance on cooking, travel plans, or crafting thoughtful messages.”

Aside from its plans to have its own app, those who want to utilize ChatGPT’s power on mobile can do so by using Microsoft’s Bing search app. And while app stores have many apps that have a similar function as ChatGPT, Meta has warned people of malicious software that fronts itself as ChatGPT or similar AI tools.
