If there are those moments that you sent a message with a typo or wrong context, you don’t need to fret: WhatsApp recently announced that they are rolling out a feature that allows you to edit messages. This much-requested feature is set to roll out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
“For the moments when you make a mistake, or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages,” WhatsApp said in its blog post. To Edit messages, all you have to do is to long-press on a sent message and choose “Edit” from the menu options. The catch? You can only edit sent messages up to 15 minutes after sending them, so you will need to act quickly if you made a typo or needed to add context to your message.
After editing your message, you will get an edited status below the message you sent to inform the recipient that you made some changes. Just like the rest of the messages you send through WhatsApp, all edited and unedited messages are protected by end-to-end encryption.
It’s also worth noting that WhatsApp is giving these edit messages feature to all of its users free of charge–unlike Twitter, where you need to subscribe to Blue to have the ability to edit Tweets.
