You’ll Want These AI-Powered Appliances in Your Kitchen

Hardly anyone thinks of the kitchen when the topic of Artificial Intelligence (or even robots) comes around. Still, for some tech companies at CES 2024, AI-powered appliances are the next big frontier. No prior culinary knowledge is required as each of the offerings at the Las Vegas trade show from Bartesian, Chef AI, and other tech startups promises to let their machines do the heavy lifting while we wait for our perfectly prepared meal or beverage.

Bartesian’s Premier

The Premier is Bartesian’s latest offering from their line of AI-powered appliances – it’s an intelligent cocktail maker that will be available later this year for $369 (~Php21,000). It can hold up to four different types of spirits and uses a touchscreen interface to pick from 60 cocktail recipes.

Those who need our daily dose of caffeine might be very interested to know that the future might lie in robot baristas who are taught how to make the perfect cup.

Alec Roig, one of the hardware developers for Artly Coffee – a Seattle-based tech startup, claims that “What we’re really trying to do is preserve the craft of fine coffee.” as the company showcases their barista bot at the event.

The bot’s learning process is straight out of sci-fi: Artly Coffee’s resident (human) barista is hooked with motion sensors that record all of his movements as he prepares each of the company’s recipes, and the barista bot mimics them even down to finer details like pouring latte art.

iGulu’s Automated Brewing Machine

For beer lovers out there, an automated brewing machine is in the works by iGulu. It does exactly what it sounds like – letting you make your beer by simply pouring pre-mixed beer recipes, adding water into the machine’s keg, and scanning the sticker that comes with the beer mix. The process takes around 9-13 days and produces a gallon of your beer of choice.

Chef AI’s Air Fryer

The simple, humble air fryer is an unlikely candidate to be an AI-powered appliance, but here we are. Chef AI unveils what they called a “real one-touch” air fryer. The company’s CEO, Dean Khormaei, sums up the device’s operation perfectly: just put the food in the air fryer, press start, and the AI will detect what type of food it’s cooking. Chef AI’s air fryer will be available in the United States in September of this year for $250 (~Php14,000) and, as Dean puts it, “would turn even the worst cooks into chefs.”
