Xiaomi Boasts Growth in Premium Smartphone Segment in 2021

Xiaomi has unveiled its 2021 financial report, where the Chinese tech giant highlighted that they have achieved a 70% YoY growth with CNY 22 Billion in Net Profit. Chief among the main highlights of its impressive 2021 is its smartphone business, where Xiaomi was able to move 190 million smartphones globally. That translates to a YoY growth of 30%.

In its smartphone shipments, Xiaomi highlighted its premium offerings, where it was able to exceed 24 million units. That translates to 13% of premium Xiaomi phones–the Mi 11 and Xiaomi 11T series, to name a few–sold in 2021, or a 5% improvement compared to 2020.

Xiaomi’s strong smartphone business is also felt on a global scale, as the brand increased its presence in Europe and Latin America. These achievements made Xiaomi ranked number 3 in global smartphone shipments in the 2021 report of Canalys.

Xiaomi’s MIUI gets a notable YoY growth as well, with global monthly active users (MAU) hitting 509 million in 2021–or a YoY growth of 28.4%. Xiaomi also earns from MIUI with advertising and the revenue for that hit CNY 18.1 billion in 2021 or a YoY growth of 42.3%.

Beyond smartphones, Xiaomi has been active in expanding its presence in the IoT and lifestyle space as well. Its smart devices grew by 26.1% YoY, and its smart TV, wearable bands, and TWS earbuds are among Xiaomi’s best sellers–with the latter two ranking number 2 in shipments globally.
