The Touchscreen MacBook Pro MIGHT be a Reality Soon

Despite being very late in the game, Apple is FINALLY working on a touchscreen MacBook Pro that’s set to launch on 2025.

If there’s one thing that Apple has been stubborn about for the longest time, that’s the lack of a touchscreen option on its entire MacBook line. While fans would insist that an iPad with a Magic Keyboard should do the trick, we still yearn to see an actual MacOS device (and not iPadOS) that has touchscreen functionality.

That might change soon, as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the upcoming OLED MacBook Pros might be Apple’s first MacOS products that will bring in touchscreen functionality. Gurman’s sources told him that Apple engineers are “actively engaged in the project”, which is a big deal considering that Steve Jobs himself said back in 2010 that he does not like the idea of touchscreen laptops.

The first touchscreen MacBook Pro, which is expected to come out in 2025, will reportedly not have any new form factor: it’s essentially going to be your usual MacBook Pro form factor, but with a touchscreen input that’s similar to Apple’s iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad.

At least we can finally move on from this disastrous design choice.

While it’s not going to be as groundbreaking, adding an actual touchscreen to the display is much better than the TouchBar implementation Apple did with the 2016-2020 MacBook Pros. we all know how disastrous was the butterfly keyboard, which prompted Apple to revise the MacBook Pro‘s design to have more ports and have a normal keyboard.
