Futurecast 2023 gave us a great preview of all the improvements GCash is making with its eWallet platform which includes Global Pay and a much safer platform. For Futurecast 2024, GCash announced new improvements that are geared towards added convenience and more options for cashing in.

Pay by tapping your phone! Instead of doing additional swipes and presses, GCash will be utilizing the NFC feature on phones to allow for seamless payments. Tap to Pay will be initially implemented for commuting, where GCash users can simply tap their phones at MRT stations to pay for their fares.
Pay using your smartwatch as well. Initially teased last year, GCash confirmed at Futurecast 2024 that select Huawei smartwatches can be used for paying transactions by flashing a QR code through the smartwatch’s display. This feature also adds functionality to smartwatches as wallets, further pushing for the future of cashless transactions.
International cash-in with US banks. As part of its push to be a global eWallet platform, GCash also announced that users can soon cash in from any of the 12,000+ US partner banks to their own GCash accounts. This is a great feature to have especially for those with relatives and loved ones that are based in the US as it makes remittances more convenient.
Tourists can pay like a local. Those who are visiting the Philippines will soon get a 30-day access to using GCash, making foreigners able to experience the eWallet platform while in the country. For 30 days, tourists will be able to do things like Scan to Pay and Send Money to other GCash users.
Kids can also have their own GCash account. Children can have their own GCash account with GCash Jr., an eWallet that can be supervised by parents. Aside from the basics like sending money, GCash Jr. aims to also teach children the importance of saving as well.
