The OnePlus Pad Could Be On The Way

The Android tablet market has grown reasonably fierce in the past few years. It took a hiatus in the latter part of the 2010s but has been brought back to life by the evolution of software and technology, enough to make these tablets viable Apple iPad competitors. Rumors indicate that joining in the fray could be the OnePlus Pad, the company’s first tablet.

OnePlus used to be a company that made straight-up flagship killer devices, with naming being pretty upfront: One, Two, et cetera. Now, the naming conventions have been a bit mixed up due to the company trying its best to accommodate to various markets. The Pro/T devices are built to be the latest-and-greatest but aren’t exactly cheap. After all, they’re competing with the flagship market that has increased in price to the four-digit mark.

The vanilla models remain to be on the brink of being flagships, while the Nord branding signifies bang-for-buck within the midrange segment. Add the Core Editions and it can get confusing pretty quickly.

That’s why having a OnePlus Pad added to the already-diverse lineup wouldn’t be a surprise.

The company filed a patent with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the OnePlus Pad moniker, which is a sign that they could use it for sales in the future.

People are now wondering whether this is a device that will be developed from the ground up, or shared with sister company OPPO. We’ll have to wait and see!
