WhatsApp Goes Down Worldwide: Users Unable To Send Messages, Calls

WhatsApp is one of the world’s largest messaging applications. With around 2 billion users relying on its services on a day-to-day basis, it would be completely understandable for lots of noise to be made if it were to go down. Well, today’s that day. WhatsApp is currently down and complaints have flooded on social media.

Check out the Twitter hashtag #WhatsAppDown to find thousands of complaints from users who rely on the messaging application for daily use. Whether this is for personal or business use, it is undeniable that a blackout of this scale could have an impact on millions of people’s lives today, regardless if it’s solved within the next few minutes or so.

Users have reported being unable to send messages, and calls not reaching the “ringing” phase. The Meta-owned company has responded to the Business Today team through its spokesperson: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.”

Based on statistics, WhatsApp is being used in 180 countries around the world. With a global outage of this scale, Meta is surely on its toes in solving this issue as quickly as possible.

This is a developing story and we’ll keep you posted on any updates.
