Design

While both the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G and Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G are mid-range devices, the former looks more premium with its vegan leather option for the Vintage Green colorway, along with a dual-curve design that makes the phone look sleek. Both phones come with an IP rating, though the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G gets a slightly better IP54 rating.

While the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has a more conventional design, its advantage over the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G is that it keeps the headphone jack on top of having stereo speakers. However, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G has a better set of stereo speakers thanks to tuning by JBL. Aside from that, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G also adds an Active Halo light that’s customizable depending on your needs.

Display

While both phones come with 120hz AMOLED displays, they have their respective strengths: the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G has a premium-looking curved panel design, while the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G gets a 1.5k resolution and higher maximum brightness at 1800nits—the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G has a decent maximum brightness range at 1300nits.

Both phones make use of Gorilla Glass for protecting the display, and you get all the perks of an AMOLED display like deep blacks and vibrant (yet accurate) colors.

Cameras

While both the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G and Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G have OIS with their main cameras, they differ in the sensor used. The Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G uses a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM6, while the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G uses a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP3 sensor.

While there may be an argument that more megapixels may mean better details with photos, there are other factors to consider like post-processing software.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G may have the upper hand by having an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera for extra versatility and support for 4K video recording, but the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G has the upper hand when it comes to selfies with a 32-megapixel selfie shooter that’s assisted by an LED flash.

Internals and Battery

Both phones have 5G-ready mid-range processors: Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 for the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, and Dimensity 7020 for the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G. The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G comes with 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB variants, while the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G only comes with a 12GB/256GB configuration.

When it comes to performance, benchmark numbers show that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 does have a lead over the Dimensity 7020. However, given that the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G is more affordable and has more physical RAM, it offers a better price-to-performance ratio compared to the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. Despite the difference in performance, both the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Dimensity 7020 can handle a demanding game like Genshin Impact comfortably at high graphics without any noticeable in-game lag.

While the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has a bigger 5100mAh battery, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G has a better overall battery life at 13 hours and 47 minutes (vs 11 hours and 12 minutes on the Note 13 Pro 5G) despite having a smaller 4600mAh battery. Aside from better overall battery life, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G has better charging options that include 100w wired charging and 20w MagCharge magnetic wireless charging.

Software

Both phones come with Android 14 out of the box, and they are on even ground when it comes to software updates: both Infinix and Redmi commit to 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates.

Price

The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is priced at Php 16,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant and Php 18,999 for the 12GB/512GB variant, while the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G is priced at Php 13,999. While it’s understandable that the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has a few advantages over the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G, there’s no denying that you are getting great value for money with Infinix’s latest mid-range offering.

Paired with its transparent commitment to software updates and unique MagCharge system, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G is a great phone worth considering in the under Php 14k segment.
