OnePlus has officially announced that they will now offer a warranty for their phones should they be affected by the infamous “green line issue” that has been popping up on some of their smartphones. The “green line issue” has been one of the thorniest problems that the company had to face in the past years, as some users have complained of a permanent green line appearing on their AMOLED-equipped phones, most notably on the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 9.
The pledge was sent to Android Authority, and the good news is that it’s a lifetime screen warranty across its own affected devices. OnePlus is going further – it’ll be offering vouchers that will provide users with a “fair percentage of the device value” to upgrade to a new OnePlus device, which we’re assuming will apply to phones that no longer have parts or screens for their repair.
Now, the bad news: the offer is only being made to customers in India, which means Philippine customers affected by the green line issue are out of luck.
While OnePlus is certainly the most visible of the manufacturers who’ve had the green line issue, they’re far from the only one. Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, realme, Nothing, and others, which means the problem does happen to other phones from other manufacturers as well. OnePlus is so far the only manufacturer to issue a warranty about the green line issue and address these concerns (at least in India) directly. Hopefully, this pledge will make its way to the Philippines and other affected countries as well.
