OPPO Thinks an IP69 Rating is Enough to Entice People to Consider the F27 Pro+

These days, one of the features that brands are pushing with phones is IP rating. Most phones would have at least an IP53 rating, while most premium flagships go for an IP67 or IP68. But what if there’s a mainstream phone that has an IP69 rating–the highest IP rating right now? That’s the main selling point of the OPPO F27 Pro+, which has been made available in India.

What does IP69 mean in the first place? In a nutshell, it means that it is completely dustproof (6) and that its waterproofing is good enough against “high temperature, high-pressure sprays, and intense water jets”. In short, the F27 Pro+ is the next closest thing to a rugged phone while not being too bulky.

How about its specs? The F27 Pro+ is a typical mid-range phone that has a Dimensity 7050 processor that’s paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage and comes with a 5000mAh battery with 67w charging. The display is a familiar 6.7-inch 120hz curved AMOLED panel, but OPPO used Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the best possible protection

The cameras are probably the F27 Pro+’s weakest point, as you only get an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, a 2-megapixel filler camera, and a 64-megapixel main camera that lacks OIS.

OPPO is asking Rs 27999(~Php 20k) for the 128GB variant of the F27 Pro+ and Rs 29,999(~Php 21k) for the 256GB model. That’s rather steep if you consider what the competition offers, but you’d be hard-pressed to find any phone with an IP69 rating.
