The Next Huawei Foldable Device Is Coming: P60 Pocket?

Numerous industry sources have spotted an all-new Huawei foldable on TENAA. While there isn’t an abundance of information yet, many have speculated that this is the successor to last year’s Huawei P50 Pocket. Will this version correct its predecessor’s weaknesses and be a more even match against the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4? Let’s check out the information we have now before the huge company event happening on September 6.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, these are mostly speculative tidbits of information backed by leaks of TENAA certification. That is the official regulating body for consumer electronics in China, to which designs have to be presented before production and sale. These images showcase the second-ever clamshell foldable smartphone from Huawei, which is the reason why most believe it to be a successor to the lineup.

The device is called BAL-AL80 for now. There aren’t any specifications so far, but the photos show a round camera module very similar to the one we saw on the Huawei P50 Pocket. This triple-camera setup could be a mild enhancement over the original’s with its 40-megapixel main sensor. Battery capacity is rumored to be around 4,260 mAh, which is a considerable amount given its form factor. That’s also much larger than the 3,700 mAh capacity of the Z Flip4 or the 4,000 of the P50 Pocket.

A lot of design elements remain the same, although at first we thought they got rid of the 1.04-inch circular OLED outer display near the camera system, you can notice it a little bit in the other photos. Considering the specs of the Pocket, we can expect either the supercharged Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 or the all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the system. This could possibly be supported by up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. We could also see the same 6.9-inch Foldable OLED inner display with a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

The next Huawei foldable has an air of mystery about it, but we’ll keep you posted once the official event concludes on September 6.
