Both Facebook and Instagram acknowledged that there are issues in accessing their respective apps. Those who can access Facebook and Instagram are missing several features. The Verge reports that Facebook’s desktop messenger client and its ads section are not functioning, while Instagram’s Stories, Direct, and posting new content is not consistently working.
While they did not disclose the cause of the outage, both Facebook and Instagram assure that it is not a DDoS attack.
This is not the first time both social media platforms experienced an outage: both apps were down last August 2017, while Facebook went bonkers last May 2017.
