Dennis Anthony Uy CEO of Converge is hinting that the company might give their subscribers a new round of speed boosts once they reach their target subscriber count for 2021.

Converge has given out two speed upgrades to their subscribers in the last quarter of 2020, with the most recent one celebrating their 1 million subscriber mark. According to Uy, it is possible for them to give their customers a free speed boost provided that they meet their target subscriber count this year.

“This year, end of the year, if we reach 1.6 million or 1.7 million subscribers, we can give another boost of up to 50 Mbps or 100 Mbps. We can do that. We open up the speed our consumers deserve,” Uy said.

Converge hints that they may be able to offer internet speeds up to 1Gbps eventually. “In due time, I think, down the road, this bandwidth, we will open up. Up to 1 Gbps to the home.… We have that technology right now,” he said.

In a press forum, Uy said that Converge is currently in talks with other satellite internet providers apart from Starlink. For now, they are focused on improving their national reach and the completion of their connection to the Bifrost system. This is the unseen global backbone of the internet which allows the company to deliver faster and better quality internet at lower rates.

Converge’s most affordable plan starts at Php 1,500 with maximum speeds of up to 35 Mbps. A speed boost doesn’t seem far from true considering that subscribers may apply for paid speed boosts that can get them twice the speed of their existing plans, depending on the time of day. Converge’s FiberX Time of Day plans allows subscribers to enjoy faster internet speeds at a set time of their choice which could be either daytime or nighttime.
