Can’t afford the One M8? Why not settle for its smaller brother

Just like the leak predicted, HTC has officially released the mini version of the One M8. The HTC One Mini 2 has many of the hallmarks of its bigger, more powerful, more expensive brother, notably in the materials used and the overall design, but much like most minis out in the market, it has far lower specifications. The One Mini 2 has a smaller 4.5-inch HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and only one camera at the back, which clues you in that the One Mini 2 uses your typical camera arrangement rather than the split one that’s present on its bigger brother.

HTC One Mini 2 specs

  • 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor
  • Adreno 305 GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4.5-inch HD Super LCD2, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, 1280 × 720 resolution
  • 16GB internal storage, expandable to 128GB via microSD
  • up to 128GB via microSD
  • 13MP BSI rear camera with LED flash
  • 5 megapixel front-facing camera
  • WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC
  • LTE, HSPA+
  • 2,110mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Android 4.4.2 Kitkat w/ HTC Sense UI 6
  • 137.4 x 65 x 10.6 mm

Overall the One Mini 2 has decent specs, and carries the same design language and uses aluminum for its body much like what its bigger brother uses. The nixing of the ultra-pixel camera on the One Mini 2 in favor of a traditional camera module will also delight some people who have been looking into getting an One M8 but are turned off by the ultra-pixel technology and the accompanying hazards it brings. No price has been set of the HTC One Mini 2.
