LG Has A Chance To One-up Samsung With The V30

Only if they take advantage of the Galaxy Note 8’s premium price

We’re fresh from our coverage of IFA in Berlin, and while there’s a lot of new products launched by many manufacturers in Europe’s biggest and oldest electronics show, the one that truly stuck with us was LG’s V30. If you haven’t heard, the V30 is the latest flagship of the Korean company and is the result of the many lessons that the firm has had to learn the hard way. While we didn’t spend as much time with it as we would have liked in Berlin, what time we did have with the device left us extremely impressed.

Like it or not, LG has always played second fiddle to Samsung’s offerings, and while the company has its own cadre of loyal fans, they haven’t really had the same commercial success as their domestic rival when it comes to flagship offerings.

That’s going to change with the V30. Aside from a gorgeous design and a solid featureset, the V30 is challenging the Galaxy Note 8 via it’s dual cameras. And since it has a rear camera that has an f/1.6 opening, the phone potentially has the ability to out-shoot the Note 8 when it comes to dimly lit environs.

That’s not the only thing it has going for it – if rumors are to be believed, the LG V30 is set to retail significantly lower than the Galaxy Note 8: at $749.99 or at Php 38K, it’ll have a price at the same level as other flagships currently offered by other companies, and is more than 10K cheaper than Samsung’s flagship.

Ultimately we’ll have to see for ourself if LG’s V30 is indeed the breakout flagship that LG has been looking for. It has great specs and features on paper, but as they say, the proof is in the pudding.
