Red Magic 8S Pro Goes Official with Up To 24GB RAM

After being one of the first brands to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Red Magic is back with a mid-year update with the 8S Pro. Being an incremental update, the most significant upgrade on the 8S Pro is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 processor, which is essentially the same exclusive processor used on the Galaxy S23 series. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 has a prime core with a 3.36Ghz clock speed, while the GPU’s clock speed is at 719Mhz. These gains promise 5% better CPU and 5.7% better GPU performance on the 8S Pro.

Aside from that change, the 8S Pro can be outfitted with as much as 24GB of actual (aka virtual RAM not included) RAM with the Pro+ model, along with as much as 1TB storage–again, for the Pro+ model.

Save for those upgrades, the 8S Pro is basically the same as the non-S version. That includes a 6.8-inch 120hz AMOLED display with an under-display 16-megapixel selfie camera and 960hz touch sampling rate, shoulder triggers with 520hz touch sampling rate, a tiny fan that spins up to 20,000 RPM, stereo speakers, headphone jack, and a triple rear camera setup that’s led by a 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN5 sensor.

Like the 8 Pro series, the regular Pro gets a 6000mAh battery with 80w charging while the Pro+ gets a smaller 5000mAh battery with a faster 165w charging solution.

Red Magic 8S Pro Price

The Red Magic 8S Pro starts at CNY 3999(~Php 30k) for the base 8GB/128GB Pro model, while the fully specced 24GB/1TB Pro+ will cost you CNY7499 (~Php 58k)–which sounds like a bargain given the insane amount of RAM and storage it has, assuming Red Magic has plans to make the Pro+ available in more markets like the Philippines.

The Pro+ also has a Bumblebee Edition that comes in a 16GB/512GB configuration and has accessories decked out in a Bumblebee theme. This variant is priced at CNY 6499 or around Php 50k when converted.
