What Local Smartphone Brand Do Filipinos Trust the Most?

No single brand dominated our quick survey

The other day we posted a simple question on our Facebook page: what local smartphone brand do you trust the most? We did this to try and get a rough sampling of what our loyal readers thought of local smartphone brands in the Philippines. When we tallied up the results, we were actually surprised at the result: not one of the three major local brands – Cherry Mobile, Starmobile and MyPhone – managed to dominate the list. It was pretty much a three-way tie (well, almost with Starmobile up by a mere 2 votes with 242, Cherry Mobile with 240 and MyPhone with 239). Which leads us to believe that all three brands have matured to the point that each has a loyal following.

It was also interesting to see the reasons why people voted the way they did, and we began to see certain trends for each brand. Cherry Mobile for example, has been cited to be very affordable when it comes to pricing their products, as well as releasing enough units for each product line that they released. Unfortunately, their customer support still needed work according to many of the commenters, something that the brand has been working on for quite some time.

For Starmobile, people just loved how they release innovative products with spectacular specs, with some commenters even going so far as saying that they’re probably on the same level with other, international brands. Only problem is that sometimes the price of their phones may be a wee bit too high compared to their competition, according to the comments.

Durability and a focus on customer service is what stuck in the minds of people who voted for MyPhone. Several people who voted for MyPhone attested to the durability of their phone and their excellent after-sales support, which proves the saying: One customer, well taken care of, could be more valuable than $10,000 worth of advertising.
For all the other local brands that were not mentioned, there were not enough people who voted for them to get a good read of our readership’s opinion of them.
