A newly published report by Opensignal revealed that DITO has the fastest mobile Internet experience in the Philippines since early this year.
The new Opensignal report covering Q1 2024 reveals that DITO is the outright winner of the overall Download Speed Experience award, dethroning Smart Communication’s winning streak in this category. DITO posted 32Mbps, ahead of Smart’s 28.1Mbps and Globe Telecom’s 20.2Mbps. DITO also triumphs in Upload speeds at 6.7Mbps, compared to 5.2Mbps and 4.8Mbps from Globe and Smart, respectively.
DITO also wins in video streaming and multiplayer mobile gaming awards. DITO gained overall video experience at 55.8 points (compared to Globe’s 54.4 and Smart’s 50.8), and overall gaming at 65.8 points (versus Globe and Smart’s 62.6 point tie).
DITO also wins in 5G, as it was newly crowned a 5G download and upload speed experience winner by beating Smart and Globe. DITO posted a whopping 302.9Mbps 5G download speed compared to Smart’s 143.4Mbps and Globe’s 94.9Mbps. On 5G upload speed, DITO recorded 17.9Mbps compared to Smart’s 12.4Mbps and Globe’s 12.3Mbps.
“Our DITO users see the fastest average 5G download speeds in the Philippines—making DITO the new outright winner of the 5G Download Speed award, replacing Smart. DITO’s impressive score of 302.9Mbps is more than double that of its rivals,” Opensignal Principal Analyst Sam Fenwick said.
Smart remains on top with 5G coverage, with 1.4 points compared to Globe’s 0.6 and DITO’s 0.3. Overall coverage is different, however, with Globe Telecom posting 7.2 points compared to 7.1 from Smart and 3.3 from DITO.
“DITO’s strong showing is impressive, especially given that it only launched commercial services back in March 2021. This means that DITO has had less time to roll out its network than its more established rivals, which helps explain why it trails for both coverage experience metrics. Globe was the most awarded operator in 2023, but in 2022 that distinction belonged to Smart,” said Fenwick.
