Pinoy Pride: Cherry Leads Philippines Tablet Market for Q2 2022

As schools resume classes this 2Q of 2022, IDC reports that the tablet market in the Philippines grew significantly, and that Cherry is the dominant tablet brand.

The resumption of classes—be it in hybrid or face-to-face format—has DepEd and LGUs producing tablets for students to aid them in school. IDC Senior Analyst Angela Medez sees this as an upward trend, with a growth of 40.1% YoY and 22.2% QoQ in 2Q 2022.

When it comes to market share, Cherry dominates the tablet market in the Philippines for 2Q 2022, accounting for 30.9% of the market. This is because LGUs have preferred the brand’s budget tablet portfolio as a suitable option for students.

Cherry has a healthy portfolio of budget tablets ranging from Php 3k to Php 9k. Cherry’s most expensive tablet—the Flare Tab Ultra—comes bundled with a case and keyboard and features a 10-inch Full HD display, 6000mAh battery, LTE connectivity, and a USB-C port. It is powered by a SC9863 processor that’s paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage that’s expandable via MicroSD.

Coming in second and third place is Samsung and Lenovo, with both brands having a good portfolio of budget tablets for consumers. realme is on fourth place and is catching up nicely thanks to the sales of both its Pad and Pad Mini, while Huawei wraps up the top 5 with its budget MatePad offerings.
