No-Battery Tracking: OPPO Unveils Zero-Power Tag

Have you ever wanted to keep tabs on your things with physical tags with digital tracking functionalities? Say hello to the latest OPPO Zero-Power Tag. You’ll be able to confidently know where it is at all times without worrying about battery life and all that. After all, it has quite a unique power source.

The OPPO Zero-Power Tag is the brand’s first concept showcasing the technology. It makes the best use of cutting-edge discoveries such as RF signal harvesting, backscattering, and low-power computing to maintain operations. Basically it’s a self-sustaining device that can power itself, unless you’re in a complete wilderness with no RF signals all around.

With this, it has successfully surpassed Apple’s AirTag that requires a change of battery pack every year or so. While that may not seem like a humongous hassle, not being required to change the battery beats out seldom having to change it any day of the week.

It looks like OPPO is looking to experiment more with Zero-Power Tag and relevant technologies to bring this “electricity-free” experience to its other lineups of products.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, OPPO is heading towards its intended goal of total carbon neutrality by the year 2050. Under its corporate mission of “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World”, the brand has dreastically reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 6,000 tons annually. Starting with the European market in 2023, the company promises to remove virtually all plastics from the external packaging of its mobile phone products and will ensure that all packaging materials are made from 100% biodegradable materials.

Another interesting release is the OPPO 45W cooler that also serves as a wireless charger. The point of the item is to keep it cool while gaming, but also provide reliable charging solutions when the device is being pushed to its very limits.
