While the Magic5 series have become official globally at MWC 2023, HONOR held a different launch event in China to introduce a slightly different Magic5 Pro and an Ultimate model.
Both models are the first to utilize HONOR’s new silicon-carbon battery, boasting a higher battery capacity at 5450mAh (the global Magic5 series come with a 5100mAh cell instead). Now you’re probably wondering: how different is the Ultimate version from the Pro model?
Aside from having 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage, the Magic5 Ultimate is essentially a Pro model with a vegan leather back (in Elegant Black or Burning Orange) and comes bundled with a Montblanc Bespoke leather case and USB-C headphones.
Since it’s essentially based on the Magic5 Pro, the Ultimate also has the same set of features that made the Pro model the DxOMark king in both display and camera: a triple 50-megapixel camera setup that consists of a 1/1.2-inch sensor and OIS for the main camera, an ultra-wide camera with a 2.5cm super macro feature, and a telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, OIS, and a 30cm telephoto macro feature.
As for the display, you’re getting a 6.81-inch 120hz quad-curved AMOLED display that has a pill-shaped punch-hole for a 12-megapixel selfie shooter and a ToF sensor.
Being the top-end version, the Magic5 Ultimate is priced at CNY 6,699 or around Php 54k when converted. It will be available in China starting March 20–and it’s unlikely that HONOR will make this ultra-premium version available globally.
