Things have been very rocky for Tier One Entertainment ever since Alodia Gosiengfiao announced her departure from the eSports company she co-founded in 2017 . Her statement, “It has become evident that our visions and values are not aligned”  has everyone wondering what was happening inside Tier One.

A few days after Alodia’s announcement, it seems that the cracks within Tier One are starting to appear. On its review page at Glassdoor, Tier One received an abysmal 1.9 out of 5 rating, with the lowest scores being under Senior Management and Compensation and Benefits–with both categories being at 1.4.

The most obvious is in the Cons part, where at least 3 reviews mentioned employees being overworked and underpaid–and not being credited properly. “They (Senior Management) pretend to care about their employees’ mental health and general well-being but they actually don’t. No one will listen to you unless you play politics,” one review said, citing that politics inside Tier One is bad.

Tier One has three co-founders: Alodia, Tryke Gutierrez and Brian Lim. Lim is a known entrepreneur and is the founder of the Philippine eSports Organization according to his LinkedIn profile. Tryke, on the other hand, started his career as a marketing officer for MSI in 2012.

Between the three co-founders, Tryke has been involved in several issues in the past. A search for “Tryke Gutierrez issue” on Facebook will reveal several results of Tryke addressing issues in the eSports scene and himself apologizing for some of his shortcomings. The most recent statement Tryke made was when Blacklist was excluded from Moonton’s M-Series Video, which was a few weeks before Alodia’s departure announcement.

Tier One has yet to respond to these allegations made at Glassdoor. Their latest update is with their apparel line BLCKBOX, where they announced their collaboration with My Hero Academia for a limited collection.
