Without much fanfare, MediaTek announced a new mid-range chip with the Dimensity 7300. Don’t confuse the Dimensity 7300 as a successor to the Dimensity 7200, as it comes with four Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.5Ghz and four Cortex-A55 cores. Instead, it is a successor to the Dimensity 7050, which was used on a number of mid-range phones from 2023 and 2024.
While the Dimensity 7300 has a slightly lower clock speed for its performance cores, it utilizes a newer 4nm process, with MediaTek claiming as much as 25% better power efficiency compared to the Dimensity 7050. You also get a newer Mali-G615 GPU, which should also translate to better performance for graphics-heavy tasks.
When it comes to camera features, the Dimensity 7300 includes support for a 200-megapixel camera with 12-bit HDR, support for 4K HDR video recording, and faster focusing performance in photos. The added support for 4K HDR video recording makes the Dimensity 7300 a rare mid-range processor to have such feature.
You get an APU 655 for AI workloads, with MediaTek claiming as much as double the NPU performance compared to the Dimensity 7050. For displays, you get support for WFHD+ resolution in 10-bit color, along with native support for HDR content. As for Bluetooth, you get support for Dual-Link TWS audio.
Also worth noting is that there’s a Dimensity 7300X version, which is mean to have native support for dual-display flip phones. The addition of a dedicated processor for foldables means that we should expect more mid-range flip phones soon–though MediaTek has yet to disclose which brands will debut a new flip phone soon. We don’t know how different it is from the standard version, so we have to wait and see once the first phones with the Dimensity 7300/7300X debut globally.
